The drilling operation of 17 ½” hole section started at depth of 391 meters. In Asmari formation and from depth of about 610 meters, due to complete loss and no mud return situation, as well as water shortage, it was not possible to continue drilling operation. In order to control fluid loss and well stability condition, conventional LCMs have been used many times, which have not been effective. Further, due to the ineffectiveness of conventional LCMs, cement plugs have been used in several stages as the next step to control loss circulation, which was no success in reducing loss circulation. Based on the existing conditions of operations and the prediction of the presence of a cave-in fracture with high connectivity, it is proposed to use EMCBGA New LCMs and is spot at the desired depth. After carrying out the steps to control loss circulation and giving enough time to EMCBGA materials to improve performance, mud return has been observed and the conditions of the well have been static, which cause greatly save drilling time and costs and continue drilling 17 ½” hole section as per program.
